Characteristics and Objectives
What is the pre-starter phase in poultry rearing?
What are the key characteristics of this phase?
- Duration: Generally, the first 7 broilers, and 10 days for layers.
- Nutritional Focus: The diet is formulated with highly digestible ingredients because a chick's digestive system and enzyme production are not yet fully developed.
- Physical Form: Galdus pre-starter feed is provided as pellets (1 mm) to accommodate the small size of the chicks and encourage early intake.
Primary objectives
- Gut Development: Galdus pre-starter stimulates the growth of the gastrointestinal tract, hence maximizing future nutrient absorption.
- Immune System Support: Promotes early immunity and reduces early mortality rates caused by nutritional deficiencies.
- Carryover Effect: Proper nutrition in the first week is strongly correlated with final market weight and egg production. For example, every 1 gram of extra body weight at day 7 can result in 5 grams of extra gain at market age of 35 days. For layers, an average of 5 extra eggs during production cycle.
For an extended egg production cycle and farm profits.
